Mibrag, a subsidiary of EP Power Europe, makes its way towards a sustainable future by providing sources of green energy. Transforming former mining areas into wind parks marks another important step in line with the company’s goal of transitioning to sustainable energy sources.

For Mibrag’s a 93 MW wind park Breunsdorf, located in Saxony region, Germany, Vestas will deliver 15 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines, including supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines.  Each of the turbines with hub height of 169 meters will have a capacity of 6.2 MW. Vestas will also provide the service for the next 20 years.

“This project represents a key advancement in our journey from conventional power to sustainable energy. The continued transformation of former mining sites into renewable energy sources positions us in the heart of Germany’s energy transition,” says Tomáš David, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of EP Power Europe, responsible for renewable energy in the broader EP Group.

EP Power Europe recognizes the transformative potential of the Breunsdorf wind park project. It will generate renewable energy, but also help in attracting investors and foster economic growth in the Saxony region. Scheduled for commissioning in 2027, the wind park will produce 205,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, meeting the needs of 90,000 households and significantly reducing carbon emissions. The generated electricity could alternatively be utilized to produce approximately 4 100 tons of green hydrogen through electrolysis.
